9 Days of Shimmer - Day 6, Airriann & Polka Dots

9 Days of Shimmer - Day 6
When I first saw this polish in the bottle, I thought 'yeah, pretty I guess,' and that was it- I wasn't blown away. BUT. I was totally wrong to be 'meh'- how awesome is this glitterbomb?! I had no idea what to wear as underwear for it, so I thought I'd stick with something totally neutral so all the different colours would stand out. Cult Nails Mazo is a lovely nude colour with a hint of gold shimmer, which suited it perfectly. I wouldn't even know what colour category to put Airriann in- brown? Gold? It's completely multi-coloured. Look at the close up bottle shot in the picture below- epic glitter going on right there. Hexes, squares, iridescent, red, blue, gold, orange, green- this polish is sheer art.

Sorry about the copious picture spam there, I'm just in love with this polish. Every angle makes it look a different colour. I wasn't sure if I wanted to even add anything to it, I felt like I was wearing jewellery on my nails! But I got out my dotting tool and added a few pretty little polkas in H&M's Golden Treasure, which really brought out the gold.

9 Days of Shimmer - Day 5, Karina & Pearls

9 Days of Shimmer - Day 5
I'm so excited about today's polish. This is one of the most beautiful glitters I've ever worn, it's simply stupendous. Karina is purply, pink, red and black glittery goodness with holographic particles- the depth is insane, you can see from the pictures how many facets there are to this polish. Application was so perfect, and the shine was so high on it I feel like it should be classed as a glitter jelly. The pictures below aren't 100% colour accurate (which is really pissing me off) as the colour is slightly more vibrant than it looks. I layered it over China Glaze Ruby Pumps and used two topcoats of Poshe.

I got so many comments on this polish, it was a real eye-catcher. The girl who served me at Boots asked me if my polish was OPI- I tried to explain about Etsy and indie polish, but I was met with the blank stare of a Nuggle.

I wanted to do some simple art, and I thought some pearl hearts would suit the pink. I used some tiny pearls from a craft shop, painted a clear top coat on the patches I wanted to stick them to, and then before it dried plopped them in place. I put another layer of Poshe on to secure them- and man they are SECURE, these babies aren't going anywhere!
I'm definitely going to re-create the pearl effect with some other designs, so simple but pretty.
Four more polishes to go in my Shimmer series! Tomorrow I'll be showing one of the more unusual glitters. See you then!

9 Days of Shimmer - Day 4, Alice & Flowers

9 Days of Shimmer - Day 4
I got so excited when I saw there was a polish called Alice (super sad, I know). I was even more excited when I saw how gorgeous it was- different sized silver holographic glitter with silver stars scattered in the mix! I've layered it over Color Club What a Drag and it was opaque in two coats. There's three coats of Poshe as well, as the stars were a bit bumpy. Application was very easy, the glitter dispersed really well and wasn't clumpy. I did have to fish for the stars quite a bit, and I wish they were a different colour as they're not obvious at all on the nail, they merge into the glitter.
I've never really been into stamping over glitter before, but my star stamp over Liana looked so lovely it's kick started a new obsession! The stamp is from the new Bundle Monster set (plate BM-323) and the white is Konad Special polish. I thought the white flowers looked like snowflakes and gave it a very winter-y vibe.
Phew, almost halfway through my epic glitter swatch-a-thon! Tomorrow I've got one of my favourites from Shimmer - Karina!

9 Days of Shimmer - Day 3, Carmen Glitterbomb

9 Days of Shimmer - Day 3
Today I'm sharing Shimmer's Carmen polish, a lovely burnt orange gold stuffed with subtle, tiny multi-coloured glitters. Application on this was slightly harder to manage as it was so jam packed with glitter, which made it difficult to get a smooth cuticle curve. I layered it over Butter London Knees Up to give it an Autumn feel- I love the red peeking around the edges! There's two topcoats of Poshe on this mani and one coat of Gelous- this glitter has serious munchies.

I was hoping to get a decent shot of the sparkle explosion in the sun, but the weather was being a pain in the arse and didn't want to come out and play :( The perils of living in rainy Wales!

As I already had a glitter party going on, I thought to myself "What could better this?" And the answer was obvious- MORE GLITTER. I used Milani Red Flash and Purple Gleam over striping tape to create the lines, two lovely glitters that I acquired in a swap from the lovely Whitney from Apple Drops. They ended up looking like Christmas presents...and seeing as I had my first Christmas assault yesterday (a random gift magazine in the post) I guess it only seems apt!

These are some heavy duty bling. There's three coats of glitter, one of Gelous, and FOUR layers of Poshe on these babies....they seriously weigh about a pound each!
Tomorrow I've got the best named polish in the collection....Alice, obviously. Stay tuned!

9 Days of Shimmer - Day 2, Liana & Stars

9 Days of Shimmer - Day 2!
Today I'm sharing Liana, a dark blue glitter (which really reminds of me of denim!) There's so much going on here- the tiny iridescent glitters have a holographic quality to them that really makes this polish pop. There's gold, purple, blue, red- I find a new glitter every time I look at it.
I used Calvin Klein Electric Blue as underwear, but the same as yesterday's polish, the glitter applies so opaque that you can't even see it. There's also two coats of Poshe to make it extra shiny.

I thought that a bit of stamping would look amazing over the blue, so I used Sally Hansen Silver Sweep and the star plate CH5 from Cheeky. And WOW, I am so in love with the end result, the silver brings out the tiny shimmers really well.

Thanks for reading!

Stay tuned for tomorrow's post....something very glitzy and gold!
