Candy Lacquer - White Wedding

Evening peeps!
Today I've got a beautiful indie polish to share with you- Candy Lacquer White Wedding. I was feeling a bit prematurely Christmassy, so I used Butter London Knees Up as a base and layered one coat of White Wedding over it. My nails looks like a Christmas decoration!
I am so in love with Candy Lacquer- their polishes are so beautifully crafted, and the application is so easy. This is just one coat, and it was really easy to move the glitter around on my nail to get the snowy effect I wanted. I really wanted to to dig more hearts out- that's my only gripe with this polish! I managed to get one on my index finger (see below pic) but I would have loved a few more.
I was going to do some stamping or nail art over the top, but I just loved the red and the white together so much I decided to keep it simple! I'm seriously looking forward to some more Christmassy designs- counting the days until my annual candy cane nails!

Anchors Away

Ahoy there mateys!
Bit of a nautical one here, I've wanted to do a sailor manicure for a while and I've been meaning to use my anchor stamp for ages. I didn't come out very well over the blue, so I touched it up with a bit of acrylic red paint (which has freaked my camera out a bit and made it look pink)
I used Revlon White, and China Glaze Bermuda Breakaway as the blue base. The stamp is QA5 - it didn't really pick up the anchor properly as it's a cheap stamp so I pretty much just used it as a rough guide and painted over it with a tiny paintbrush and acrylic paint.
I initially wanted to do an anchor on every nail, but it literally took me an hour to do two as they were so fiddly, so there was no way I was going to waste the rest of my 20s painting the rest!

Thanks for reading!
Love,
Alice

Stripey Polkas

So, bit of random nail art today...I love the idea of the stripes and polkas, but I feel like they turned out as lazy butterflies...very, very lazy butterflies! This is Barry M Pink Flamingo (one of my all time favourite pinks) with Wet n Wild Black Creme striped over it. The white polka dots are Revlon White. It was really easy to do- I used striping tape over Pink Flamingo and painted the black on, then taped diagonally across the nail and did the same thing. And my trusty dotting tool for the polkas!
Hope you're all having a blinding weekend,
Alice

Taffy Tips

One of the best things about blogging is meeting some amazing people from all over the world- one of my fave swap buddies is the lovely Whitney. She sent me a surprise package full of polish goodies the other day, as well as some American treats (my obsession with Hersheys knows no bounds!)
My favourite from the parcel was Taffy by Rainbow Polish, a lovely indie with grey, pink and white glitters suspended in a clear base. I layered it over OPI Sweet Heart and to make it a bit edgier added some black french tips with Wet n Wild Black Creme, topped off with a coat of Seche Vite. The application was a dream- this is just one coat of Taffy, and I pushed it around really easily to get the glitter to go where I wanted it to.
And here's Taffy by itself. I hate that it's pitch black outside by 5pm, it makes it so hard to get decent pictures in natural light!

Grink Me Up

I don't know where the outline manicure originated, but I'm going to hop on the bandwagon and get involved. I've been struggling with inspiration lately since my nails got nubbinised due to a few breaks, I'm missing them being long :( But I saw someone post a cloud version of this design somewhere and loved it. And on the plus side of the nubbin, it means nail art takes half the time!

Clearly, my obsession with pink and grey is still going strong. I recently did a taped polka dot manicure using these exact same polishes (Asda Sherbert Fizz and Rimmel Grey Matter) and I just loved the combination of the soft pink with the grey. It's an unusually sophisticated palette for my chavvy tastes but sometimes you've got to crack sumfink classy out, innit.
What do you guys think of the grink? (my new super cool word for grey and pink). Let's get it trending.... hashtag grink.

9 Days of Shimmer - Day 9, Sophie & Roses

I've got the last of the Shimmer polishes to share today! I have a feeling you'll be seeing more Shimmer polishes from me in the future, I've loved experimenting with these beautiful pieces of polish art.
'Sophie' is a pinky glitter with purple, red and gold pieces. The glitter cocktail is very similar to Melissa, but with a pink base instead of a purple one. It's layered over OPI Be A Dahlia Won't You? which is one of my all time favourite pinks.

I've been loving the stamping over the glitter lately, so I blobbed on OPI Party in my Cabana and then used Konad Special polish to stamp the white roses. The plate is Cheeky CH13.
Tomorrow I've got a pink and grey combo!
Love,
Alice

9 Days of Shimmer - Day 8, Vanessa & Stripes

Good evening all,
Today I have my favourite polish from the Shimmer collection to share! It wasn't my favourite from looking at the bottles, but once it was on my nails Oh. My. God. Holographic glitter. Tiny glitter particles of every colour, with a silver shimmery base. Amazeballs.
I used Wet n Wild Black Creme as the underwear, two coats of Vanessa and two coats of Poshe. There might be a tiiiiny bit of picture spam going on here, but it's just so amazing.
I love the green sheen on the picture above, every angle makes this polish look different! I decided to pop some stripes over the top with some more Black Creme- and unbelievably, there was actually two minutes of sun the day I took pics so I managed to capture the amazing holo aspect of the glitter in sunlight.
Hands down my fave polish in this series!
Love,

9 Days of Shimmer - Day 7, Melissa & Leopard

So...I've been absent for a while! Huge apologies to anyone who's noticed- I've had a really bad month, mainly with illness, my dog getting spayed, and also the traumatic death of my laptop. It's untimely death resulted in me losing ALL of my pictures....ever! It was totally soul-destroying, but I've since picked myself up and re-done most of the manicures I lost. Hopefully the rest of my pictures are salvageable somehow. And I learned my lesson- BACK UP EVERYTHING! I am an idiot.

Self- flagellation over, onto the last of my Shimmer Series. Today I'm sharing Melissa, a beautiful Christmassy colour- the main glitters are purple, pink, red and gold. I layered it over Barry M Vivid Purple.

Then I thought I'd bling it out a bit with some stamping, and used Barry M Gold Foil and my Konad plate M57 for the leopard. The gold looked soooo good with the purples and pinks! I felt like I was wearing expensive wrapping paper on my nails.

Hope you guys are all good,
Love,
Alice
